We . . .

. . . . painted a wall with chalk board paint!

Oh yes, we did.

Ok, HE did, but I needed a "We" blog. It counts as my initiative, though. (Not my idea. Everybody's doing it and YOU should, too!)

One side is magnetic.

I put up scripture verses. He puts up - other things.

He . . .

. . . took me to a professional basketball game, where we paid $20 for parking and rooted for the home team

Thank the Lord, the tickets were courtesy a co-worker, who won them at a silent auction. We had box seats!

Box seats are kind of far from the action.

I applaud the makers of the extremely large monitors.

We got to go on this enjoyable date, dressed up and grown up. I loved it!

She

. .. found an old book at a yard sale or thrift store. It wasn't necessarily classic literature, but the pages had a nice yellowing from age. She took the book home and borrowed a page.

Then she drew a picture on it.

I love the final product.

These Two

This, then, is how they dress when simply going out for a pastry.

Classy, these two.

Was This Even Tuesday?

The weather has been so beautiful here. I called Glenna on the way home to work and told her to get ready, because there was no way we were going to stay indoors!

Because I get a great discount, we decided to go to Disney property and play some mini-golf. We had SO much fun! I wish the videos I took weren't so fussy or I'd add them here. Instead, I have tons of photos.

I love this one of Glenna!

The premise is that their work is finished, so Santa and his elves are on vacation. They have tons of sand, surf, and Airstream trailers all over the course.

This was one of the many "Gnome away from Gnome"'s

Each hole had a peppermint stick with instructions on how to make the shot.

Two of a part of six, this kind family let us play through.

An elf/gnome, swimming.

The stinker!

Doesn't this look like sand? It's carpet!

The Surfboard says "Jingle Swells"

Us. =)

This one turned out to be a great hole . . .

. . .

. . . for ME!
Hole in One!

This hole, however cute, was not my friend.
A six-putt.

We added up our scores and I discovered I was tied with the top score back at the caddy trailer. This kindly cast member wrote me out a certificate:

Yup. There's one for the portfolio. Shot a 42 on 18!

Glenna did NOT shoot a 42.
BUT, she seemed to have a really good time, and she definitely gets the good sport award!

That, and they gave her a candy cane.

Healing

One of these years, Dr. Lewis will be able to come to my house and have a GREAT visit.

This year, however, I had the worst migraine I've had in a long, long time on his last day in our home. It was horrible! All I could do was stare at the clock until it was safe to take yet another ineffective pain reliever. I waited in agony for evening to come, so I could take something to knock me out. It lasted about 4 days.

Himself says he can tell how I'm feeling by the groceries I bring in. Lately, everything I buy has been green. I attended a seminar by Green Smoothie Girl (Google her!) and I'm determined not only to eat real foods as I have for some time now, but to eat the greens my body needs.

This is what breakfast looks like now:

Down the hatch!
It's actually very tasty. I was able to make it in my blender, not with the juicer, so I'm not wasting so much food and fiber. If you have a high speed blender, you can do this.

My basic green smoothie (from Green Smoothie Girl) is:

2.5 C water (or almond milk, or coconut water)
2 tsp sprouted, milled flax seed
She recommends 1/4 lemon, but it was too lemony for me and lemon is a migraine trigger
1 lb leafy greens (Kale, spinach, arugula, chard, whatever!)

Combine those until well blended and your blender measurement is 5 to 5.5 cups

Then add frozen fruit! Mango, strawberries, mixed berries, whatever. Mixed berries will turn it purple instead of green, but still good.

I also add about 2 tsp Agave nectar, or you could add Stevia.

Add fruit until your container is all the way full, which is about 4 cups. If adding frozen strawberries, I would add them gradually through the top of the blender so it doesn't bog it down. No ice necessary!

This gives me four pint-sized jars, or two days worth of smoothies. I have one for breakfast, and one later in the day. After two weeks I'm definitely noticing a difference in my energy levels, though I still tend to crash at some point during the day.

I have also not had coffee for three weeks. Coffee is the only thing I can think of that I was still consuming that would cause headaches.

So, this is step 1 - drinking a quart of plants per day. I'll keep you posted!

Things that Catch the Eye

Movie Tuesday with Glenna has turned into browsing days if there's nothing good at the theater. Sometimes we'll pick something up from Red Box, but I HATE this option because I always forget to take it back in a timely manner!
(Yes, Glenna. You leave photos on my iPod, I'll post them here. It's also the one I used to show Mrs. Lewis so she could see what you look like. It's the only one I had at the time.)

Sometimes, it's the grouping of items that we find most interesting:
Rows and rows of false idols . . ..

. . . and chickens.
While I think home decor may have reached its RSP (Rooster Saturation Point), they still try to get them in there.

I don't know why this tickled me so much:
Large-bottomed girls on bistro seats.

From the top up, they're sophisticated and chic, sipping coffee on any afternoon they please. From the waist down, they're out of control and remind me of stink bugs, then it all comes together with their dainty little feet.

Wouldn't you like to see them actually walking down the sidewalk?

As Dad used to say, they'll, "Shade you in the summer and warm you in the winter."

Or, he'd just say they were full of butter beans. I never let him elaborate too much on that one, but I can still hear him singing it!

"Ahhh she ain't as bad as she seems, it's just that she's full of those good 'ole butter beans!"

Frizz Bomb

Me, after I shower and fix my hair and I'm all ready for work:

My hair, after stepping onto Disney Property and making my way to the SM break room:

And me, trying to get a decent photo:
Oops! Not ready.

The BAGS under my eyes! GAH!

Dorky face, and those bags again. Better try with glasses on.

Wha? Caught blinking. I hope. I hope I don't actually look like this.

Stop trying to smile. Please.
