Home Schooling - Take 14 - Action!

Thursday night, Glenna and I attended her convocation for her new school. We listened to the headmaster, met her teachers, picked up her uniform shirts, and left.

We are both so very, very excited.

Her teachers seem great and were so happy to meet us! I'm sure they're this way with every family, but I'm thankful they were this way with us.

So, Glenna will have her core classes on Tuesdays, then Thursdays she will have her Algebra 2 class. The rest of the week she will be doing her work at home. It was fun to note the other high school students at the convocation and wonder which ones will be in her same Track.

I had a good belly laugh, because Glenna just found out that all her classes are Honors classes. (They were previously, too. She just didn't know it!) Yes, Glenna; I am fully confident you can do the work.

I thought I would be more upset about not choosing her curriculum. I thought I'd be upset at not being her only teacher (except for the FABULOUS Mrs. R , English, and Mrs. S, science teacher). The strongest emotion I'm feeling, however, is relief.

At last help has arrived. At last guilt over my poor job of home schooling Glenna last year will be lessened. At last, someone has thrown me a lifeline.

Glenna's first day is Tuesday. For the first time in a long time, she's excited that summer is over and school has begun!

I know this honeymoon period will end for both of us, but we're going to hold on to it as long as possible. With college expenses, my staying home is no longer an option. Since I am the one responsible for the educations of my daughters, it is my responsibility to provide it for them as much as I can. I do this joyfully!

Come fall, our son will be the first in our immediate family to earn a degree.

Wow!
